LSEC N100 – Research Skills 2

Bugatti Veyron VS Porsche 911 Turbo

When you talk about 2 of the strongest cars in the world , you will be surprised about the information of them both ,the Porsche and the Bugatti Veyron  . So in this essay I will talk about two different sport cars , that is the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 , which is the difference in price , speed, horse power and the weight .

First let’s talk about the Porsche 911 Turbo which is the fastest of all Porsche cars . It has a very strong engine with 6 cylinders which produce 500 horsepower , and it takes 3.2 seconds from 0-60 mph ; also the top speed is 194 mph with a light weight that is 1596 kg ;  that information placed the Porsche 911 at the forefront of sports cars in terms of speed ; actually it will break your heart when you go so fast. (Renolds,K.Oct 2010 ) .

The second car is the Bugatti Veyron which is the fastest car in the world . I will discuss the information on why it is the faster .The first thing is there is no car with 16 cylinders except the Bugatti . and it has 1001 horsepower , and  it takes 2.5 seconds to drive from 0-60 MPH , although the weight is greater than the  Porsche which is 2034.8 Kg . (France,Jason.Dec.2010) .

On the other hand there are some similarities between the Bugatti Veryon and the Porsche 911 Turbo . One of them is both of those cars are sport cars and for the race , and the  other similarity is the country of  manufacture of both is Germany .

Also  there are differences between these two cars through the speed and weight but the big difference is the price of the Bugatti is 9 times more than Porcshe 911 turbo, (Carlos.Mar 2011) .

Thus we can see that the Bugatti Veyron is the faster compared to the Porsche 911 Turbo , also there is no comparison between those two cars , in terms of price, engine , and speed .

Phoenix Rising

     Phoenix Rising

In the article “Phoenix Island” in the National Geographic magazine published in January 2011 writer Gregory S. Stone informs us about the changes that happened around the Phoenix Island after the El Niño’s disaster. He goes on to discuss solutions for this issue.

Climate change had a harmful effect on the coral reef around Phoenix Island in the country of Kiribati. For starters, the region’s corals were bleached. When the corals are bleached the seaweeds grow out of control which stifles the recovery of the reef.

Yet another point to take into consideration is the coral has been flourishing, with dense clouds of colorful fish .
A remarkable solution was mentioned by the writer to help restore this unfortunate situation. To begin with, stop fishing nearby that area because the fish eat the algae and keep the reefs in a recovery state. Another solution was to sell the rights to a Conservation Trust with the New England Aquarium to protect that natural phenomenon.
